Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital

Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital opened in 1950 at the height of the polio epidemic as a 50-bed, convalescent home for children with polio and other orthopedic diagnoses. As the polio epidemic declined, the emphasis changed to include treatment of spinal cord injured children and young adults.

Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Unit

Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Unit at Samaritan Hospital opened in November 2005 as an answer to the call of the community and the everchanging regulations of medicine.

Under new Medicare guidelines, patients with simple joint replacements or mild neurologic conditions no longer qualified for treatment at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital on Versailles Road. Management stepped up and began looking for other options to serve the people of the community.

Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Center/Easter Seals of Louisville

Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Center/Easter Seals of Louisville was founded in 1958 by the Kentucky Easter Seal Society with a mission of providing programs and services, public education, advocacy, government and public relations and technical assistance for people with disabilities of all ages, their families and friends.  We provide comprehensive and caring physical, occupational and speech therapies, Early Intervention and Audiology services to individuals of all ages and from nearly every zip code in Louisville.

Center for Outpatient Services

In 1955, Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital opened it's Preschool Program for children with disabilities. Virginia Creech was instrumental in seeing this dream come true.  The main hospital was focused on treating patients with Polio.  As time went on and the need for a hospital for strickly polio patients was no longer necessary, the hospital began expanding its scope of services.

Home Care

Cardinal Hill Home Care began offering a full array of quality home health services in 2004 with an emphasis on the intense therapy for which Cardinal Hill Hospital is known.  Cardinal Hill Home Care serves patients in the following Central Kentucky counties: Fayette, Franklin, Jessamine, Madison and Woodford.
