Gift Shop Volunteer

Duties

Gift Shop volunteers will assist patients, families and visitors with their purchases and use a cash register to complete transactions. Additionally, they will assist the Gift Shop Manager with inventory control, create price tickets, set up displays, as well as rotate and restock merchandise. Gift Shop volunteers will assist with orienting and training of new Gift Shop volunteers. They will help maintain an orderly appearance of the Gift Shop.

Qualifications

Gift Shop volunteers  must be at least 18 years of age.  Prior retail experience is helpful.

All volunteers must attend a general volunteer orientation as well as a Gift Shop specific orientation and training.

Requires the ability to perform moderately difficult manipulative skills, ability to reach, crouch, bend, and stand for prolonged periods.

Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines and understand the employee handbook and all hospital policies.
