Adult Day Health Assistant

Duties

Assist staff in Adult Day Health (ADH). Assist patients in daily activities and help to maintain a healthy and safe environment. Assist the staff in preparing and implementing daily activities. Oversee daily activities such as games, music, art, etc. Attend to the needs of individual patients. Perform occasional tasks such as stocking materials, cleaning ADH area, running errands for staff.

Chaplain Assistant

Duties

Chaplain Assistants will make visits to patients to acquaint them with the Chaplain Services and make referrals to the department as needed.

  • Report to the Chaplain names and room numbers of patients to be visited
  • Introduce yourself to patient and give brief description of Chaplain Services
  • Briefly visit with patient to ascertain if they need visit by Chaplain
  • Leave note for Chaplain with pertinent information regarding the results of visit (i.e. needs no further action, would like to see Chaplain, etc.)

Childcare Assistant

Duties

Our Childcare Assistants assist teachers at the Cardinal Hill New Beginnings Childcare Center. These volunteers oversee children in daily activities and maintain discipline as to assure a healthy and safe environment for the children.  Childcare Assistants assist the teachers in preparing and implementing daily activities.  They will oversee daily activities such as play time, nap time, outside time, etc. They will attend to the needs of the individual children (diapering infants, rocking infants, putting shoes on children, etc.)  The Childcare Assistants will also perform occasional tasks such as stocking diapers, clean changing area, and putting down cots for naptime.

Equipment/Logistics Assistant

Duties

Equipment/Logistics Assistants are needed to help the Logistics staff.  Volunteers will:

  • Display a positive image of Cardinal Hill by demonstrating courteous behavior toward patients, visitors, other volunteers and employees
  • Assist with taking patient equipment to specific units
  • Assist with cleaning equipment
  • Assist with breaking down wheelchairs
  • Deliver packages/mail to units/departments

Gift Shop Volunteer

Duties

Gift Shop volunteers will assist patients, families and visitors with their purchases and use a cash register to complete transactions. Additionally, they will assist the Gift Shop Manager with inventory control, create price tickets, set up displays, as well as rotate and restock merchandise. Gift Shop volunteers will assist with orienting and training of new Gift Shop volunteers. They will help maintain an orderly appearance of the Gift Shop.

Greeter

Duties
Our Greeters serve at the Visitor Entrance Information Desk. They welcome patients and visitors, and escort them to the appropriate locations via walking or wheelchair transport. Greeters also provide assistance by answering questions, providing directions, and explaining hospital policies such as parking, visiting hours, smoking, etc. Additionally, they may be asked to deliver items from the information desk to various departments/units in the hospital.

Information Desk Worker

Duties

Information Desk Workers are needed to provide assistance by answering questions, providing directions and explaining hospital policies such as parking, visiting hours, smoking, etc. They should display a positive image of Cardinal Hill by demonstrating courteous behavior towards patients, visitors, other volunteers and employees.

Nutrition Care Assistant

Duties

Nutrition Care Assistants assist the dietary staff with the following duties:

  • Distribute and collect patient menus
  • Put linings on patient meal trays
  • Assist with the delivery of patient meal trays
  • Serve food in the cafeteria
  • Wipe off tables in the cafeteria or patient dining rooms
  • Stock supplies in the cafeteria

Newspaper Delivery

Deliver newspapers to units and departments throughout the hospital on weekdays. Deliver newspapers to patients' rooms on weekends.

Volunteer must be 14 years of age. Requires extensive walking and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

   

Outpatient Therapy Assistant

Duties

Outpatient Therapy Assistants are needed to help the Outpatient Therapy staff. Outpatient Therapy volunteers:

  • Display a positive image of Cardinal Hill by demonstrating courteous behavior toward patients, visitors, other volunteers and employees
  • Assist with patient safety issues
  • Assist with the therapeutic pool and Phase III Wellness Program
  • Assist Secretary by answering phones and doing other light clerical work
  • Assist with cleaning equipment, bringing therapists equipment, or replacing equipment
  • Make copies as necessary
  • Provide support during gait training by helping with equipment
  • Must be able to demonstrate appropriate use of wheelchairs
  • Answer telephone
  • Take and relay messages
  • Filing records
  • Copying documents

Pediatric Center Assistant

Duties

Pediatric Center Assistants help therapists and staff at the Cardinal Hill Lyman V. Ginger Pediatric Center.  They assist therapists in preparing activities for therapy, organize therapy rooms and clean equipment.  Volunteers also assist in the waiting room with Story Time or games as well as make copies, file, etc. for staff.  Pediatric Center Assistants may also be used to motivate patients during therapy, however they may not provide any hands-on-care.

The Pediatric Center Assistant will be trained by the Pediatric Exercise Specialist.  Volunteers will be in daily contact with Pediatric Center staff, children and parents and collaborate with department staff and with other departments as necessary.
