Athena and the Healing Horse - a Solo Exhibition of Paintings by Monica Pipia

Located at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital The Atrium Gallery 2050 Versailles Road, Lexington KY 40504Contact Trish Hatler 859.254.5701 ext. 5603 pjh1@cardinalhill.org October 15, 2012 – January 6, 2013 Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital is pleased to present Athena and The Healing Horse, a solo exhibition of paintings by Monica Pipia. In the exhibition, Pipia presents a series of paintings that trace a specific interest that the artist has in the healing power of the horse. “As friends and guides, Athena and her horse took the artist on a journey of discovery. It was a certain mastery of texture and form and feeling. These paintings resulted from a passion to uncover a vision of truth. This transmutation was a process of healing life’s burdens and hardships into a living metaphor of wholeness and completeness. Understanding oneself as a human being and horse as a manifestation of spirit takes me on a healing journey to self.” Pipia believes “healing begins when I accept the situation. I accept not with resignation but welcome the challenges life presents to me.” This installation at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital takes on added meaning as Pipia’s sister is recovering from a brain aneurysm. Monica Pipia is a Lexington artist who has exhibited in galleries both locally and nationally. Her work is held in private and public collections.
