Chef - Child Cooking Classes

The chef child cooking class is designed to help children develop skills related to food preparation and kitchen safety. The program is led by local chefs and Cardinal Hill pediatric occupational therapists who volunteer their time and expertise.

Classes are held the third Monday of every month from 6:00pm – 7:00pm in the Home Management kitchen at Cardinal Hill. Each class accommodates eight children ranging in age from six to sixteen years old. Socialization skills are learned as children work in teams.

Local chefs bring food and equipment for children to prepare 2-3 recipes for each class. Recipes are often related to season or to current holidays.

Chef Child was developed in 1998 with local chefs from the Bluegrass Culinary Association and Cardinal Hill Pediatric Center.

Classes are free of charge.
